Here are answers to some frequently asked questions about the PEN USA Literary Awards:

When are the winners of the awards announced? We like to announce the winners of the awards in August.

When can I enter the literary awards? The literary awards will be open for submissions in late August. The Call for Submissions form will be available when the awards are open.

My book is published through an online service. Can I enter the literary awards? No. The literary awards only consider professionally published books for which the author was paid by the publisher.

I live in California, but I’m a citizen of the UK. Can I enter the awards? Yes. The awards are open to works published or produced by writers who live in the United States west of the Mississippi River, including all of Minnesota and Louisiana.

I am a US citizen and I live in British Columbia, Canada. It’s west of the Mississippi River. Can I enter the literary awards? No. Only writers who live in the United States may enter the literary awards.

My book was published online. Can I enter it in the awards? No. The original publication must be as a physical book.
