The First Ever Reading from the 6th Edition of Corpus (with APLA and MAKE ART/STOP AIDS)
Los Angeles—On May 1st, AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA) and MAKE ART/STOP AIDS are proud to present the first ever reading of Corpus, a poignant HIV-prevention literary and photographic journal published by APLA. The sixth edition of Corpus edited by Jaime Cortez and Pato Hebert, focuses its lens on the world outside of the city. In small towns, members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community and those affected by HIV/AIDS face a whole range of unique issues and realities. From the reservation to the range, this impressive body of work showcases a variety of artists dealing with issues of isolation, homophobia, and acceptance far from the bright lights and urban walls.
The reading begins at 7:00 p.m. at the Fowler Museum at UCLA. A star-studded group of artists from the sixth edition of Corpus will be on hand to read and showcase their words and images, including Keith Harris, Al Winn, and Elton Naswood. In a unique dialogue, UCLA student artists will also present their original works throughout the event.
Before the program begins, all are invited to explore the MAKE ART/STOP AIDS exhibition. The event is free and open to the public. “First Live Reading from Corpus 6” presented in conjunction with the exhibition MAKE ART/STOP AIDS at the Fowler Museum at UCLA.
