PEN USA Protests Government Harassment of Russian PEN Center

February 10, 2006

Amid allegations of tax evasion, Russian PEN’s assets have been frozen by the Russian government.  This action appears to be in response to Russian PEN’s open critique of new Russian legislation affecting NGOs.  PEN USA has joined PEN Centers around the world to protest this harassment.
