Letters of Appeal Make a Difference!

PEN USA ‘s members responded overwhelmingly to an appeal for support of Honorary Member Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury. Over 260 postcards were sent on his behalf to the Bangladesh Ambassador to the US. Subsequently, he was released on bail on April 30.  His court date is June 20, 2005.

Actions against Ethiopian Free Press Journalists Assn. by Ministry of Justice

The Ministry of Justice on 28 December, 2004 announced through government-controlled TV that it went to the Vice president of the Civil Bench of the Federal court and got a letter of suspension against EFJA till it submits its appeal letter to the Federal Higher court, with in the coming two weeks.
