2000 Emerging Voices Rosenthal fellow Joyce Lee Wong’s young
adult novel, Seeing Emily, will be published in Fall
2005 by Harry N. Abrams. Told in free verse, Joyce’s
debut novel speaks directly to readers of the heady,
messy experience of being a teenager, as it relates
the story of a Chinese-American teen determined to see
past others’ perceptions of herself. (Some of you may
remember Joyce as “Joyce Lee.” She has since then
added “Wong,” both to her life and to her name.)
