Becoming a Professional Member

Professional membership in PEN Center USA is open to professional writers, including poets, novelists, playwrights, journalists, editors and translators as well as writers for film and television, who have a professionally produced or published body of work.

Anyone interested in becoming a Professional member must submit an application in addition to a résumé of published work and the annual Professional membership fee of $79. Applications are accepted throughout the year. Members of the WGA are automatically qualified to join.

Becoming a Patron Member

Patron membership is open to anyone who supports the work of PEN Center USA. Anyone interested in becoming a Patron member must submit an application and the annual Patron membership fee of $50. Applications are accepted throughout the year.

Becoming a Distinguished Patron Member

Become a Distinguished Patron member for an additional donation of $150 to your annual Patron dues. You can become a Distinguished Patron member instantly on PapPal. Once you have completed the PayPal process, please send your name and contact information, including your phone number and permanent address, to membership@penusa.org with "New Distinguished Patron Member" in the subject line.

Becoming a Student Member

Student membership is open to anyone who supports the work of PEN Center USA and is currently enrolled in an
educational institution. Those interested in becoming Student members must submit an application in addition
to a valid transcript or letter of enrollment from their respective institution’s registrar, as well as the annual Student
membership fee of $25.

Becoming a Bookseller Member

Bookseller memberships are open to any person able to prove current employment through a bookstore, distributor or publishing house. Anyone interested in becoming a Bookseller member must submit an application in addition to proof of employment (paystub, letter from supervisor) and annual Bookseller membership fee of $15.
